INTRODUCTION

The UNESCO Chair in Management of Historic Towns and Urban Centers was inaugurated at National College of Arts in 2009, and has continued to thrive since then. It is NCA’s honor that UNESCO has renewed the title till 2025 and approved the appointment of Dr. Arfa Sayeda Zehra as a new UNESCO Chair holder.

Dr. Arfa Sayeda Zehra is one of those rare individuals who combine thought, real vision, passion, intellect and charm. A creative person that reflects in her thinking, writing, speaking, and innovation in interdisciplinary studies rooted in history, literature and culture. As an academic, researcher, analyst and critical thinker she has contributed immensely towards the discourse on literature and cultural heritage of Pakistan and especially Lahore and its Walled City. A living legend in the field of cultural heritage, literature discourse, and oral historical discursive practices Dr. Sayeda has further developed a vista of heritage archival material for Pakistan Television. NCA welcomes Dr. Sayeda as UNESCO Chair in Cultural Heritage.
