Artist Talk and Workshop with Mohammed Rezaur Rahman and Gao YanHui on South Asian Terracotta Motifs

Another insightful artist talk featuring Mohammed Rezaur Rahman, artist and art educator; and Gao YanHui, ceramist; as part of the NCA Triennale 2025 was held at the Shakir Ali Auditorium, NCA. The session brought together students and faculty for an engaging exploration of South Asian terracotta motifs, bridging the past and present of this timeless art form.

Gao YanHui presented Tangshan Ceramic Village, culture and technical aspects of China porcelain factory and their craftsmanship.

Following this, Mohammed Rezaur Rahman led a hands on Clay Slab Building Workshop, where participants explored the expressive possibilities of clay and experimented with traditional South Asian patterns. The workshop allowed students to experience the tactile and meditative process of terracotta making while reflecting on its historical significance.

As part of their visit, both artists were also taken on a guided tour of Lahore's historic sites by the faculty of the Department of Ceramics, offering them a deeper connection to the city's artistic heritage and architectural legacy. This cultural exchange brought a meaningful dialogue between artists, educators, and students, celebrating craftsmanship, collaboration, and the shared cultural threads that unite South and East Asian ceramic traditions.
