As part of the NCA Triennale, an artist talk was held with Mumtaz Hussain; a New York based multidisciplinary artist, writer, and filmmaker, and an alumnus of the National College of Arts. During the session titled “Translating Literature Into Film,” Hussain explored the art of adapting narrative and descriptive prose into visual form, offering students and emerging filmmakers valuable insights into the creative and technical processes behind cinematic storytelling.

He spoke about his journey from NCA to the global stage, where he has worked as an Art Director for renowned brands such as Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. Mumtaz Hussain, who has published seven short story collections in English, Urdu, and Gurmukhi, also shared experiences from his literary career, including receiving the International Impact Award for his fiction.

The talk highlighted his acclaimed films, including Soul of Civilization and his award winning debut feature Art = (Love)², both of which have earned international recognition and screenings at prestigious venues, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

The session offered a rare opportunity for students to learn from a seasoned artist whose work spans literature, visual art, and cinema, enriching the creative atmosphere of the Triennale.
