The ‘Mapping Craft Practices in Lahore’ workshop offered an engaging, hands on exploration of Lahore’s vibrant craft heritage. Led by Faryal Arif, this two day session invited participants to reimagine and document the living traditions that shape the city’s identity through its artisans and makers.
Participants immersed themselves in storytelling, photography, and fieldwork to record oral histories and map the creative processes of local craftsmen who preserve centuries old skills. The workshop provided a collaborative platform for students and professionals from diverse disciplines including art, design, anthropology, archaeology, and sociology to study the intersections of material culture, tradition, and contemporary practice.
By combining research, documentation, and creative inquiry, this immersive experience highlighted the resilience and richness of Lahore’s craft communities, emphasising the importance of sustaining and celebrating our shared cultural heritage.
