Metal Crafts of Pakistan by Ustad Amjad Ali & Syeda Ailia

The “Metal Crafts of Pakistan” workshop, sponsored by Punjab Small Industries, brought together traditional artisans, students, and design professionals in a shared effort to rediscover and preserve Pakistan’s rich legacy of metal craftsmanship.

Led by Ustad Amjad Ali and Syeda Ailia, the session focused on indigenous techniques such as repoussé, engraving, casting, and hammering/forging, offering participants a rare opportunity to engage with age old practices that are gradually fading in the face of industrialisation and limited documentation.

Through hands on learning and collaborative exploration, the workshop aimed to bridge the gap between traditional craft and contemporary design education, reinforcing the importance of sustaining these cultural skills for future generations.
