Performances - Mehfil-e-Sitar - Day 16

An evening of timeless melody unfolded on Day 16 of the NCA Triennale with Mehfil-e-Sitar at the Shakir Ali Auditorium, celebrated the depth and elegance of classical South Asian music, featuring masterful performances that carried the audience into a world of rhythm, resonance, and refined artistry.

Ateeq ur Rehman opened the evening with a soulful Pakhawaj solo, accompanied by Rakae Jamil. The night continued with Zara Zafarullah’s expressive sitar performance alongside Mohammad Ismail, followed by Rakae Jamil’s own rendition accompanied by Ustad Raza Shaukat on tabla. Muhammed Effendi and Shehroze Hussain also graced the stage, both accompanied by Asher Shahzad, adding layers of texture and emotion to the Mehfil.

An immersive celebration of classical music with Prof. Dr. Murtaza Jafri, Vice Chancellor of NCA and his family’s presence, stood as a testament to the Triennale’s commitment towards honouring culture, craft, and artistic excellence.
