Workshop – Aleezay Mohsin 'Sustainable Material Making'

A three day workshop titled “Sustainable Material Making” was conducted by Aleezay Mohsin at the Tollinton Block as part of the NCA Triennale 2025.

The session explored innovative approaches to material creation through sustainability and biomaterial design.

Participants engaged in hands on experimentation with bio based materials such as starches, gelatin, and algae compounds, transforming them into tactile, eco friendly surfaces. The workshop offered insights into the chemistry of natural polymers, focusing on texture, translucency, and flexibility as drivers of new design possibilities.

Encouraging the intersection of art, science, and ecology, the workshop inspired students to rethink their material choices and develop creative, conscious alternatives to conventional plastics. The session was well received by students and faculty alike for its forward thinking approach to sustainable design.
