Kite Stories from Craft & Memory by Asma Tanvir, rooted in the timeless tradition of Patang making, celebrated the poetic craft of kites through sustainability, storytelling, and cultural memory. It brought together participants from diverse backgrounds, each reconnecting with a childhood ritual that has long been part of our shared visual and cultural landscape.
Participants crafted delicate miniature kites using recycled materials; candy foils, magazine pages, broken straws, and everyday remnants, transforming the discarded into the meaningful. Through hands-on guidance, they experimented with form, balance, and colour, allowing each kite to evolve into a personal artifact.
Every piece became a vessel for a story, a wish, or a visual whisper that symbolically took flight.
The workshop not only revived a fading craft but also opened space for reflection, dialogue, and nostalgia. Together, participants wove fragments of memory and imagination into vibrant symbols of hope, resilience, and creative expression.
