Workshop – Muzammil Hameed & Farah Muzammil 'Chaddar of Memories'

Chaddar of Memories was a three day immersive textile workshop led by Muzammil Hameed and Farah Muzammil, designed to explore the intersection of personal narrative, cultural identity, and traditional craft. Participants worked with embroidery, appliqué, and fabric collage, using these tactile techniques to reflect on themes of memory, belonging, and resilience.

Throughout the workshop, the chaddar served as a symbolic anchor, representing protection, heritage, and emotional continuity. Guided discussions and creative exercises encouraged participants to translate their stories and lived experiences into layered textile compositions.

The workshop concluded with each participant creating a wearable artwork: a personalised chaddar infused with cultural depth, emotional resonance, and artistic expression. The final pieces embodied a blend of tradition and contemporary storytelling, demonstrating how cloth can hold meaning, preserve memory, and connect individuals through shared creative practice.
