Workshop - Stories in Stitch by Zeb Bilal & Nabiha Khan

The workshop “Stories in Stitch” led by Zeb Bilal and Nabiha Khan invited participants to rediscover the art of storytelling through thread and texture. Over the course of three days, the workshop honoured Kasb-e-Kamal Kun; a celebration of skill and craftsmanship, by revisiting the subcontinent’s rich textile traditions.

Through the meditative process of kantha and running stitch on cotton calico, participants translated memories, notions of belonging, and reflections on time and displacement into tactile narratives. The workshop treated stitching as a language of mark making, transforming fabric into a canvas of shared stories and emotional landscapes.

As part of the NCA Triennale 2025, “Stories in Stitch” resonated deeply with the event’s broader vision of exploring material histories and artistic practices that connect the personal with the collective, and the local with the universal.
