Designed to break the myth that DJing requires extensive equipment, the workshop ‘DJ Skill Bootcamp’ by Umar Waheed introduced participants to the idea that anyone can begin learning the craft with just a laptop and the right guidance.
Over three days, students explored the essential foundations of DJing through software based learning. They engaged with key concepts such as BPM, cueing, beat matching, EQ control, and track transitions using their laptops to understand how professional DJ tools function at a fundamental level.
The modules focused on navigating DJ software, analysing music structure, and developing an ear for smooth mixing without relying on advanced hardware.
Through guided demonstrations and practical exercises, participants gained confidence in handling digital DJ platforms and discovered how accessible the skill truly is. The workshop offered a unique, beginner friendly introduction to modern DJ culture, adding an innovative dimension to the Triennale’s Mashq o Maharat series.
