The National College of Arts had the honour of welcoming H.E. Marilina Armellin, Ambassador of Italy to Pakistan, during her visit to Pakistan.

Mrs. & Prof. Dr. Murtaza Jafri, Vice Chancellor NCA, received the Ambassador and accompanied her on a tour of the historic Tollinton block, NCA. During the visit, H.E. Armellin explored a range of traditional handicrafts on display, including intricate jewelry pieces and textiles being woven live on khaddi by local artisans, offering a firsthand glimpse into Pakistan’s rich craft heritage and artistic traditions. She also enthusiastically interacted with the exhibits and even tried on some of the handcrafted jewelry pieces, appreciating their artistry and craftsmanship.

Expressing her admiration, Ambassador Armellin commended the remarkable skill, creativity, and dedication of the artisans. She remarked that such crafts represent a living cultural heritage that deserves to be celebrated and preserved, and appreciated NCA’s efforts in promoting traditional arts while creating opportunities for contemporary creative expression. The visit provided an opportunity for engaging discussions on art, culture, craftsmanship, and the importance of strengthening cultural ties through creative collaboration.
