NCA Welcomes Delegation of Sikh Yatris to Celebrate Shared Artistic and Cultural Heritage

• The National College of Arts warmly welcomed a distinguished delegation of Sikh Yatris through a special programme celebrating the institution’s rich artistic and cultural heritage. The guests were presented with a documentary highlighting NCA’s historic legacy, followed by a visit to an archival exhibition at the Zahoor ul Akhlaq Gallery. The exhibition featured rare works and archival material related to Sikh artists, teachers, and students associated with the Mayo School of Arts, with particular emphasis on the remarkable contributions of Bhai Ram Singh.
  
  Punjab’s Minister for Minorities Affairs, Honourable Sardar Ramesh Singh Aurora, attended the occasion as the Guest of Honour. Addressing the gathering, he emphasised the importance of interfaith harmony, mutual respect, and cultural understanding, appreciating NCA’s longstanding role in preserving shared heritage and fostering inclusivity among diverse communities. Further, he recognised NCA's contribution under Prof Dr Murtaza Jafri's leadership in restoring the Sikh Asthaans back to their pre-partition structure. Mr Arora also appreciated the Government as well as the people of Pakistan for their warm welcome to Sikh Yaatris. Mrs. Prof. Dr. Murtaza Jafri was also present at the occasion.
  
  The event reflected NCA’s enduring commitment to serving as a bridge between cultures and communities. In his welcome address, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Murtaza Jafri expressed his appreciation for the Sikh community’s historic connection with the institution and Pakistan. He noted that art transcends boundaries and has the power to cultivate peace, understanding, and human connection; principles that continue to define the spirit and legacy of NCA.
